Recycling

FREE RECYCLING

We'll take away your old appliance for free recycling, along with any packaging, when we deliver your new one OR you can also bring any unwanted electrical item into your nearest Currys PC World for free recycling, even if you haven't bought it from us.

Electrical products are brilliant when they’re working, but getting rid of your old one can be problematic. Maybe you're aware, or maybe not, that Ireland is one of the best recyclers of electrical appliances in Europe. Under Ireland's application of the European WEEE directive, retailers are obliged to accept old products on a one for one basis when consumers are purchasing new electrical appliances. When a new appliance is being delivered, retailers are again obliged to take away and arrange the recycling of the old appliance. We're delighted to play our part in this.

If you have any piece of electrical equipment you want to recycle, you can either:
•    Bring your old product into any of our Currys stores
Or
•    We can collect and recycle your old TV (when you buy a TV of 32” or above) or large domestic appliance for free when you have your new product delivered by our home delivery service*.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are recycling a product that holds personal data (i.e. PC, Laptop, Mobile Phone, etc.) you will need to have removed the information from your old product prior to us receiving it as we will not carry out any data removal.

What we’d ask you to do...

Before we arrive, we would ask that you ensure that the old appliance is in a fit state to be taken away by us.

We just ask that you make sure you've safely disconnected your old equipment before we arrive.

Look out for our symbol

All new electrical and electronic equipment we sell at Currys can be recycled! You can tell because our products include a ‘crossed out wheeled bin symbol’ like this

Even if your old product doesn’t have the ‘crossed out wheeled bin’ symbol, the good news is we’ll gladly accept and recycle your old electrical and electronic equipment to the best of our ability!

Benefits of recycling

In a nutshell, it’s better for the environment and Currys cares about being green. The toxins contained within electrical products are extremely harmful on:
the natural habitat
wildlife
your health
populated areas and communities where water and soil is polluted

At Currys we make sure we do our best to protect the environment and our dedication to recycling means some pretty important benefits:
saves natural resources
reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending waste electrical goods to landfill

A bit about batteries
In all our Currys stores you’ll find recycling bins for batteries, so that everyone and anyone can deposit their used portable batteries. Batteries we accept:
Household/domestic batteries e.g AA,AAA batteries etc...
Batteries found in wristwatches
• Mobile phone/laptop batteries

Sorry, we don’t accept: Industrial batteries or Automotive batteries
